Hey, I'm Shawn, one-third of the Metal Review Cast team.

My love for rock/metal/metalcore/post-hardcore/emo/pop-punk etc started when I was around 12/13, frequenting channels such as Kerrang and then Scuzz (rest in power) when they began in 2013. The nu-metal era was in full flow at this point, and I found myself listening to a lot of Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit and Bullet For My Valentine.

At 15 years old, my still chav-like self (despite my musical choices) found out about this indoor festival called 'Give It A Name', which genuinely hosted some of the best lineups I've ever seen! My first gig was GIAN 2016 day two - the lineup was Silverstein, Aiden, We Are Scientists, Goldfinger, Taking Back Sunday, Angels & Airwaves and Lostprophets (who headlined). From there, I was in love, with most bands being bands I still listen to today.

Since that first festival, I've never looked back, constantly going to gigs no matter where they were. Hanging out and meeting bands along the way, it's been a great experience and one of the most rewarding parts of my life to date. You can usually find me either in London or up north around Leeds for gigs.

My music taste is extremely eclectic - you could find me listening to Architects, Silverstein, Caskets, Chill Nation, Trap Nation, Neck Deep, State Champs, Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble and The Midnight all in the same day!
